On March 28, China's first 100-kilometer long-distance carbon dioxide pipeline — the million-tonne CCUS carbon dioxide transmission pipeline of Shengli Oilfield — has been operating safely and stably for 1,000 days.
CCUS stands for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage. As an important component of China's first full-chain million-tonne CCUS demonstration project, the pipeline had seen the total injection volume of carbon dioxide of the project exceed 1.3 billion cubic meters as of March 28, driving the sustained development of large-scale carbon emission reduction and green energy development in China.
At present, all carbon dioxide injected by the million-tonne CCUS project of Shengli Oilfield is stored underground, with output doubled and growing steadily. This marks that the CCUS technology of Shengli Oilfield has achieved the transformation from "technological verification" to "industrial implementation".
Going forward, Shengli Oilfield will focus on promoting the in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, develop four "million-tonne" demonstration projects including low-concentration carbon dioxide capture and utilization at coal-fired power plants of Shengli Oilfield, and strive to become a provider of technical solutions and standard setter for the whole CCUS industrial chain.
